. Know the message that your film is presenting
.Know your plot, structure, and characters
.Understand the techniques used (with camera, lighting, acting) so you will be able to communicate with the rest of your team better
.Pay attention to detail, as you don't have long to show your artistic style
Director input on production:
Narrative:
Our film is linear, we decided to do this to show how the character was gradually breaking down throughout the week, if the narrative had been non linear it would have made a simple story unnecessarily complicated and difficult to follow, which would ultimately have detracted
from the films message. In our film we focus on one character, because the film is about her
breakdown under pressure, and although other characters are involved the film is about how
she is effected.
Style: As director i had to communicate with lighting, camera and mise-en-scene in order to
got our films message across. For instance for Amelia's room we chose a room that had dark
wallpaper and flooring, we also made the lighting dark in order to represent her characters
depression, whilst the kitchen where her mum is always seen in white with bright lighting to
show the happiness that surrounds Amelia. When filming crowd shots we decided to go hand
held, the shakey framing highlight's Amelia be overwhelmed by school.
